    Prior to joining the University of Saskatchewan as an Assistant Professor in 2008, Dr. Odeshi worked as a Research Associate at the University of Technology Chemnitz, Germany and the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg Canada. He is actively engaged in microstructure-design of metallic alloys for defense, aerospace and automotive applications. Recent research activities include the role of microstructure in deformation and failure of structural materials under dynamic shock loading. With a view to expanding the applications of C/C composites to areas where their good thermal and mechanical properties are desirable but economically not justifiable, Dr. Odeshi developed a cost effective method for the manufacture of C/C-SiC composites. His areas of current and future research interest include: synthesis and characterization of high performance composite materials, high strain-rate testing, deformation and failure analysis, and structure-property-relation in engineering materials. He is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS) and Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM). He currently serves on the Boiler and Pressure Vessel Safety Board of Saskatchewan.
