Booking a lab

For classes, labs are booked by faculty members through the Engineering Students Centre. Otherwise, for student groups (and any other ad hoc bookings), contact Richard Heese, Manager, Computer Laboratory, at richard.heese@usask.ca at (306) 966-2927.

To look at the current schecule for any of the labs, in Microsoft Outlook Calendar select "Open Calendar" and choose "From Room List..." and scroll to the room numbers listed in the chart above.

Printing


Wide Format Printer

The ITLC Help Desk (Beta Lab) provides a wide format printing service. We charge $10 per linear foot for print jobs run on this printer.

Payment methods:

  • Cash
  • University of Saskatchewan account number (does not include CPAS) - The owner of the account, or someone with signing authority, must send an email to engr_helpdesk@usask.ca with the complete account number, (format is:  #-######-####-#####-####) authorization to use that account to pay for the poster being printed and the name of the person having the poster printed. We will also accept a signed document from the account owner with this information.

The printer is an HP 5500 42" wide, roll feed, colour inkjet printer. You can print jobs as large as 42" by 10'. All Engineering standard sizes from A - F can be printed on this printer.

Print requests are on an “on demand when you arrive” basis, so you may come and have your poster printed whenever you get here.  During Terms 1 & 2, we are available for printing Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:15 PM.

Software

Faculty/Teaching Staff Software Requests

Review existing engineering computer lab software or make other requests (new software, updates, removal, etc.). This page requires you to log in with your usual NSID and password.

 

Software Available to Specified Engineering Faculty, Teaching Staff and Students

The College of Engineering has a premium subscription to Microsoft DreamSpark which means many of our faculty, staff and students can access certain Windows products for academic purposes at no cost for installation on their personal/home computers. 

Who can/can't install these products?

  • Department, Faculty or Staff members who are directly involved with teaching or system administration related to DreamSpark Premium may install and use 2 copies the software on their personal computer (a) to support their education/teaching; (b) in non-commercial research; or (c) to design, develop, test, and demonstrate software programs for the above purposes.
  • All Engineering students may install the software under this program.
  • Department, Faculty, or Staff members who are not directly involved with teaching or system administration related to DreamSpark Premium may not install the software on their personal computers. The software obtained through the DreamSpark Premium subscription of the student/faculty’s STEM department is personal to the respective student and faculty, and may not be shared, transferred, resold or assigned to others.
