Biography

Education and Experience

B.E., M.Sc.(Sask.) , Ph.D.(West. Ont.)

Specialization: Structures/Materials: Structural Dynamics, Wind Loading, Structural Masonry, Structural Health Monitoring

Dr. Sparling’s areas of research include structural dynamics and wind engineering, the design and analysis of communication structures, structural health monitoring, vibration-based damage detection, and structural masonry. He is currently a member of the technical Committee for the CSA Standard S37 on Antennas, Towers and Antenna-supporting Structures and is an associate member on the CSA Standard S304 on Design of Masonry Structures. Prior to joining the university, Dr. Sparling was employed as a structural design engineer, primarily working in the industrial and mining sectors.
