Admission Requirements

Applicants to our graduate programs must have an excellent academic record and have earned a degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering (or a closely related field) from a recognized college or university. See Admission Requirements. As part of their bachelor's degree, applicants should have completed at least 3 courses in the intended field of study. For example, students entering a M.Sc. program in communications may have taken courses in i) Signals and Systems ii) Analog and Digital Communication and iii) Computer Communications or, as another example, courses in i) Digital Signal Processing, ii) Communication Electronics and iii) Microwave Circuits. Students cannot be admitted to the M.Sc. or Ph. D (thesis) degree program unless they have found a faculty member who is willing to supervise their research and offer them a place in their research group.  Even if an applicant meets all of the admission requirements, this is no guarantee that they will be admitted, since admission is contingent on finding a supervisor.

Pre-Qualification
To speed the review of applications we use a pre-qualification form to identify candidates that have a reasonable chance of admission. Selected candidates will be invited to prepare a full application which requires a $90 fee, transcripts of grades and written references.

English Language Proficiency
English is the language of instruction and all applicants must be proficient in English prior to admission. Further information can be found on the website English language requirements for international applicants. Proficiency can be demonstrated by:
