Hard Hat Ceremony: Students welcomed into programs
On September 14, 2016, over 330 second year engineering students were welcome into their programs at the College of Engineering’s annual Hard Hat Ceremony.
The event is a colorful display as students wear their hard hats and joined their disciplines of chemical (blue), civil (orange), environmental (black), geological (green), computer (grey), electrical (yellow), engineering physics (beige) and mechanical (white) engineering.
The ceremony marks the milestone of the academic path of engineering students as the move from their first year of general studies to the specific programs beginning in second year. Students received welcoming remarks from the University of Saskatchewan’s President’s Office, APEGS, the College of Engineering Dean, student society president along with formal welcomes by department heads and chairs into their programs.
