PhD candidate wins international student poster competition

The College of Engineering is proud to celebrate the achievements of PhD candidate, Xingxing (Shane) Jin.

A student in Electrical & Computer Engineering and supervised by professor Ramakrishna Gokaraju, Ph.D., P.Eng., Shane received first prize for his student poster entitled “High Speed Digital Distance Relaying Scheme for Extra High Voltage Transmission Lines” in the student’s poster competition held during the IEEE Power & Energy Society general meeting in Boston last week. The PES GM is the flagship conference of the IEEE Power & Energy Society. 

IEEE PES PEEC student activities subcommittee received 200+ posters for the poster competition from about 15 countries. Other student poster competition award winners were from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and Iowa State University.
