SaskPower Research Chair Tony Chung attains IEEE Fellow
Professor Tony (C.Y.) Chung was chosen among a select group to be elevated to Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Fellow effective January 1, 2016.
The attainment of IEEE Fellow recognizes outstanding and unusual professional achievement. He was selected for his contributions to power system stability and control.
“I am truly honoured and humbled to be elected,” he said, acknowledging that the distinction provides motivation. He added, “I will continue to work hard to support the development of more reliable and stable power systems in Saskatchewan.”Professor Chung also became a member-at-large (smart grid) of the IEEE Power and Energy Society (PES) Governing Board in 2015, on which he continues to serve. He joined the College of Engineering as the inaugural SaskPower Research Chair in Power Systems Engineering in 2014 and in that capacity is working to advance academic activities and applied research in power systems engineering development in the province.
