Aboriginal Achievement Week

To celebrate Aboriginal Achievement Week from February 27 to March 3, the College of Engineering and the College of Arts & Science are co-hosting two events

Achieving Indigenous Success in STEM

This event will feature a panel presentation and discussion on achieving Indigenous success in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). Panelists will offer perspectives on the benefits and challenges of being a STEM university student, and discuss the path to becoming a scientist or engineer.

February 28 from 3 - 4 pm

The Art & Science of Indigenous Engineering: A Hands-on Boat Building Activity

This will be a fun, hands-on, family friendly activity that showcases physics and engineering design through a boat building challenge. Participants will collaborate in teams to design and build miniature boats using provided materials. Teams will then compete against each other by testing and racing their boats. A projection screen will show a continuous slideshow featuring types of Indigenous water technologies for guests who prefer to observe the challenge.

February 28 from 5 - 6 pm

Both events at the Gordon Oakes Red Bear Student Centre.
