Engineering students take home gold at Western Engineering Competition

The College of Engineering is proud to share news from the Western Engineering Competition (WEC) held this weekend in Burnaby BC.

The competition is held annually between 14 undergraduate engineering schools in Western Canada, including five of Canada’s U15 schools. This year, the U of S delegation was represented by seven teams across the eight competitions; with remarkable outcomes of five podium places. Some of our students will now travel to compete in the Canadian Engineering Competition in Toronto in March.

Congratulations to the following students on their success at WEC:

Mitch Cassidy and Gillian Leach – 1st Place in Debate
Rick Casson – 2nd place in Innovative Design
Shanleigh McKeown, Colby Lindeburg, Brett Chamberland, and Andrew te Linde – 2nd place in Junior Design
Graham Wilson and Connor Dobko – 3rd place in Communications
Thomas Specht, Austin Legacy, Aaron Golder, and Jamie Labrecque – 3rd place in Consulting

Special recognition to student Noah Hladun for his work as Head Delegate and to professor Sean Maw for his work in advising the delegation.
