Via the Daily Oil Bulletin: Building better steel for cold climates
A College of Engineering researcher says new funding from NSERC and Evraz could see cold-resistant steel developed more quickly.
Jerzy Szpunar, a professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, has received $770,000 from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), EVRAZ Inc. and Natural Resource Canada's CanmetMATERIALS research centre.
In his research, Szpunar is investigating how to make steel that's more durable in sub-arctic environments, improving the safety of oil and gas transportation.
Szupunar recently spoke to the Daily Oil Bulletin about his research: USask researcher building better steel for cold climate oil and gas pipelines
