Feldman appointed to prominent industry committee
Feldman, a civil engineering professor at USask Engineering, was appointed to the Technical Activities Committee of the 30,000-member American Concrete Institute.
By USask Engineering CommunicationsDr. Lisa Feldman, a professor in USask Engineering’s Department of Civil, Geological, and Environmental Engineering, has been appointed to the 12-person Technical Activities Committee of the American Concrete Institute (ACI).
ACI, established in 1904, has over 30,000 members in more than 120 countries.
Feldman’s appointment is a significant achievement, as she is one of few Canadians to ever be named to the committee, which oversees all technical matters of ACI. She begins her three-year term in May 2023.
The committee currently includes eight academics, four consulting engineers, and one contractor. TAC members must demonstrate sound technical knowledge and have served in the position of chair or another leadership position on an ACI technical committee.
Feldman has served two terms as chair of ACI's Bond and Development of Steel Reinforcement committee and is now serving as a Co-Chair of the Assessment, Repair, and Rehabilitation of Existing Concrete Structures – Repair Design sub-committee. She is also in her second term serving as secretary of Structural Concrete Building Code – Anchorage and Reinforcement.
The Technical Activities Committee oversees the ACI’s 125 technical committees, ensures the quality of its roughly 25 existing codes, and is supporting preparation of 10 additional codes under development.
Congratulations to Professor Feldman on this well-deserved recognition of her expertise and her service with ACI.
