USask Engineering announces leadership appointments

The University of Saskatchewan College of Engineering is pleased to share two new appointments to its leadership team.

Professor Oon-Doo Baik is the new head of the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering.

Professor Oon-Doo Baik (PhD) has been selected as department head of Chemical and Biological Engineering, effective July 1, 2022. Baik has served as acting head of the department for the past year. He has agreed to serve for an additional four years.

Baik, whose research focuses on food and bioprocess engineering, joined USask in 2002. He earned his PhD from Laval University.

 

Associate Professor Corey Owen is acting director of the Ron and Jane Graham School of Professional Development.

Associate Professor Corey Owen (PhD) has been named acting director of the Ron and Jane Graham School of Professional Development (SOPD) and is serving from July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023. Previous director Deb Rolfes is on leave.

Owen joined the Graham School in July 2007, where he teaches professional communication, composition, peer mentorship, and rhetoric of science and technology. 

His areas of research include rhetoric of science documentaries, and ethics in medieval literature. Owen, who earned his PhD from Dalhousie University, originally joined USask in 2007 as a sessional lecturer in Classics, Medieval, and Renaissance Studies.
