Our Vision

It is our vision - Sōhkēyimowin - to provide meaningful access to engineering for Indigenous students and to increase representation of First Nations, Métis and Inuit students in our college and the engineering profession. We celebrate and share Indigenous ways of knowing as an integral part of teaching, learning and research at USask Engineering.

Are you a First Nations, Inuit or Métis student who is curious, creative, observant or analytical? There's a place for you at USask Engineering. Be what the world needs and become a USask Engineer.

Need additional high school classes?

You need Chemistry 30, Physics 30 and Pre-Calculus 30 to apply to USask Engineering. A minimum grade of 70 percent is required in each.

If you don't have those classes or need to improve your marks, there are programs to help you.

Indigenous Student Achievement Pathway (ISAP) STEM Accelerator Certificate

This program is based in the University of Saskatchewan's College of Arts and Science. It's designed for students who want to enrol in college such as engineering, but who need high school science courses or who have been away from school more than three years and want to refresh their knowledge.

Indigenous student experience

Indigenous Student Ambassador Program

Our Indigenous Student Ambassadors provide academic and peer support to Indigenous students in the College of Engineering. They coordinate regular, non-academic support and social events and develop supportive relationships with their peers. You can find them around the college and during set hours at the Indigenous Resource Centre.

Indigenous Resource Centre

The Indigenous Resource Centre is located on the second floor of the Engineering Building, in Room 2C90. All students have access to the centre, which is also a virtual space in the College of Engineering. Through the centre, we are committed to developing and promoting Indigenous resources, events and activities as educational tools for everyone in the college.

Our goal is to create culturally safe spaces for Indigenous students, where Indigenous ways of knowing are recognized and celebrated.

Co-op Program

The Indigenous Student Co-op Initiative is an industry-focused program housed within the college's Engineering Co-op Internship Program, to connect Indigenous students with opportunities in industry to increase equity and diversity in the workplace.

Is your company interested in becoming a partner? Please contact the Indigenous Resource Centre.
