Dr. Liu is a virologist by training. Research interests of his laboratory include understanding the molecular pathogenesis of porcine coronaviruses and developing effective vaccines for these viruses.
Dr. Montgomery has a research background in equine immunology and nutrition. Her current research is focused on innate immune mechanisms involved in non-septic lower airway inflammation in horses and remote (secondary) lung injury in horses and dogs. Dr. Montgomery is a member of the Pulmonary Pathobiology Laboratory at Western College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Saskatchewan. My research focuses on behavioural plasticity during recovery from nervous system injury and disease. We assess recovery of motor behaviour in animal models of CNS injury using sensitive and quantifiable functional tests. Currently, we are investigating the effects of a novel, non-invasive experimental therapy on improvements in limb use after cervical spinal cord injury
