About Us

On July 1, 2010 the Departments of Agricultural and Biological Engineering and Chemical Engineering were merged to form the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering. The Chemical Engineering undergraduate program will continue to be offered through the new department.

While continuing to address traditional areas of strength in Agricultural, Chemical, and Biological Engineering, the merger is hoped to position the new department to better reflect and avail itself of the interdisciplinary requirements of fibre, food, and bio-energy production.

The primary objective of the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering is to prepare students for a career as professional engineers. This is accomplished by presenting accredited, contemporary programs in Chemical Engineering and Biological Engineering.  It is the department's goal that, following a suitable work period, the student may register as a Professional Engineer in any province in Canada.
